Working with a national retailer on the development of a new, "big-box" growth concept
Worked with management to assess the concept as a growth opportunity for the company. Participated in the design of the original floor plan, as well as the merchandise offering and staffing requirements. Developed action plans for the execution of the opening of the first location. Reviewed all financial projections, assumptions as well as funding requirements. Presented findings to the Board of Directors and assisted in their approval process.
Developing an exit strategy for a successful privately-owned retailing company, including review of an IPO and buyout opportunities
Working with the company's management, developed an understanding of the company operations, opportunities and options for possible changes in future strategic direction. Based on this review, presented to the Board of Directors what options were available for the exit of the company's existing owners. Participated in the selection of a financial advisor, that would act on behalf of the current owners, who would oversee the sale of the company to a private equity firm.
Helping manage the sale of a tri-channel retailer selling through a catalog, the internet and 125 retail stores
Participated in the assembling and preparing all material and documents necessary to present the company for sale. Attended and participated in all due diligence sessions with prospective acquirers. Provided additional support in responses to specific questions raised by various acquirers.
Assisting in the leveraged buyout of a diversified operator of restaurant chains.
Advised management and board on strategy for sale, recapitalization and re-emergence of company from previous failed buyout. Involved in every phase or process from initial selection of new investor/partner to recruiting new operating management, strategic planning and execution of new growth plan.
Development of a recovery and growth plan for a 500-store retail chain.
Following a crisis brought on by overexpansion, advised CEO, who succeeded entrepreneur/founder, and leadership team on process for development and execution of a growth strategy. Planned and facilitated strategy sessions, advised on engaging the organization and Board of Directors in the process, and provided executional support on specific issues.
